This piece is construscted from actual drum heads in which the artist attached a hanging light fixture assembly. The drums as well as the drum heads are translucent therefore allow sufficient light to invade the space where they are hung. The artist, Mike Parsell, happens to be a drummer himself, as well as a furniture designer that seeks to incorporate recycled materials into his work. The drum light fixtures have been recently installed into a new bar in West Philadelphia called, The Panda Bar, which is owned by The Marathon Grill and operates also as a live music venue.
