This work is constructed from mahogany, steel and concrete. Although the Heavy Sitter consists of weighty material it is easily assembled and dissembled by the use of elevator bolts. The creator, Lou Montoya, has been working on several versions of this recycled wood and concrete chair for a period of over 12 years. Montoya conveyed that his concept of furniture design is to create a simple, modular engineered structure using basic materials. Although this work appears strikingly industrial it is carefully handcrafted by Montoya and surprising comfortable for a chair constructed of such fundamental materials.
